Been reading the responses to the initial post and came across this post. My wife rode her Yamaha Virago 250cc bike over 400 miles to Big Bend Nat'l park in Texas. Her round trip mileage was 1,357 miles. This was on the Interstate at 75 mph speeds, strong headwinds and crosswinds. She thoroughly enjoyed herself and her bike got 75 mpg average. The biggest bike in the group was the Goldwing. Just stating a fact here for your contemplation. I modified her bike with a jet kit, K&N filters, Highway Hawk slashcuts w/baffles and a 40 tooth sprocket (down from the factory 45 tooth). In Europe there are touring groups that tour on 250cc bikes exclusively. This is also fact. Now that my wife has the Savage LS 650 we will tour again, and will post our experience, pictures and mileage on this site. This is in response to your comment, quote: "The Savage is a put-put go by your self bike" Never assume that you know it all because that is when you might discover that you know nothing!
